Conner's New Car Room

I realize it's been awhile since I have posted to the blog. Life has been crazy busy this year! I am much better with posting to FB these days. So check us out there more frequently!

We just upgraded Conner's room to a big boy room. All the baby stuff is gone...so sad! He did so well sleeping in his own bed at the beach, so we went ahead and converted everything from baby baseball to big boy car room. He was so excited about his new "car" bed. That's all he talked about at the beach. This boy loves his cars and doesn't have a whole lot to do with baseballs, much to his Daddy's dismay. I got one more piece to find to go above the bed and it will be complete. So far, I love it with all the bright colors. The bed even has a track at the end for Conner to play with all 1,2oo of his cars!

Moonlight at the Beach

This picture was taken our last night at the beach. It was really as light as this picture shows. It was very pretty reflecting off the ocean!

Snow Day

This was the perfect kind of snow day....enough snow to play in for an afternoon, but gone the next day so you're not stuck at the house! Conner really enjoyed getting to play in it. He didn't know what to think at first. We left the blinds up in the house and he kept looking outside and saying "no" (ie "snow"). Next winter I will invest in waterproof boots and gloves. His poor little hands got wet and cold with the cloth ones.

January

Hello everyone, sorry I have not been posting on a regular basis. We have been super busy lately and I have not had hardly anytime to do anything. Construction on the scrubber project at the plant in Mobile that I have been working the past three years has finally been completed. We put the unit on line a couple of weeks ago and I have spent a lot of time in Mobile the past couple of weeks. Shayne has already started baseball practice at MJ, so I am now a baseball widow for the next few months. They open their season on February 15 against Oak Grove. Between work and taking care of Conner we do not have much free time to do anything else.

Conner is really growing right now and he is learning alot. We are trying to potty train him right now but that is not going so well. We bought Conner a potty seat that fits on the real toilet seat, but Conner wants to use it for a hat, and he runs around the house with it on his head :). Hopefully in the next few months we will have him potty trained. No more diapers, we can't wait.

Christmas

We had an eventful Christmas this year. We hosted Shayne's side of the family on Christmas Eve and then we hosted my side of the family on Christmas Day. It was really great to see everyone and we really enjoyed having everyone over to our house. Conner was super-excited that we had so many people in our house. Conner has finally gotten the hang of opening presents but their is still one problem, once he opens the present he wants to play with it and he doesn't care to open the next one.

Conner got a ton of really nice presents from the family. I cannot remember everything that he got but here are a few of the big things: ride on police motorcycle, stationary V-Tech bike, little people airplane, little people bus, little people barn, a "Toy Story" sleeping bag, tons of cars and trucks. We got him a cleaning set and some other small stuff. Santa brought Conner a wooden playground for Christmas. It has been so cold and rainy Conner has not been able use the playground very much so far but we know that he will love it as soon as it warms up.

Conner's 2nd Birthday

On December 5th Conner turned two years old. We took him to Chuck-E-Cheese and then we came home to watch Alabama beat Florida. On Sunday we had a birthday party for him at our house. He was very excited to see everyone and he really enjoyed opening all of his presents. When it was time to sing "Happy Birthday" to him he was a little confused. When we starting singing to him his bottom lip started quivering, and he looked like he was about to start crying. We kept on singing to him and he started to really like it. He liked it so much we had to sing "Happy Birthday" to him again.

Halloween Picture

It seems like every year when the school year starts back, time just flies. I have been an awful blogger the past couple of months. We have a ton of great pictures and have done lots of fun stuff. I just don't have the time to sit down and post everything.

Conner was Old MacDonald for Halloween. I made the costume myself. He also had a straw hat which he wouldn't keep on, so we settled with the doo-rag. The chipped tooth matches his costume too!!! We're still working on getting that fixed. Still waiting on the tooth to come back down and then he can get a crown put on.

Hopefully, I can blog again before Christmas and catch up on some stuff!

Love the McWane Center!

I've been out of town more than usual over the past month and I've noticed Conner favoring his daddy more and more. I'm not ready to lose my baby just yet to all the big boy stuff so I took him on a date to the McWane Center to spend some quality time together. We pretty much did whatever he wanted with a little direction from myself. He did a lot of running, splashing, and climbing.

Right before we were about to leave, I noticed something called Itty Bitty Magic City on the 3rd floor. I had a little energy left, so we went upstairs to see what it was. Thank goodness...it was Awesome! It was made especially for kids 5 and under and was all gated in (so I couldn't lose him)! He loved the grocery store, the train table, and the cranes. I also learned that not only do you have to watch your child but also everyone else's there. Conner got clocked by some 2 1/2 year old over who was going to man the converyor wheel. We left shortly after that, needless to say. And then there was a 4 year old hoarding the train cars. It was definitely an experience that I am not used to seeing since Conner goes to daycare while I work. We had a great time anyways and can't wait to go back.

Tailgating at UA

We went to Tuscaloosa for the first home game to tailgate with my family. My brother cooked some great filets and we had a yummy Edgar's strawberry cake (the best cake in the world)! Conner was non-stop the whole time playing and getting into everything as usual. He actually skipped his nap until time to go to the quad for the pre-game activities. I'd say he missed the best part, but I think the RV was the best part. We actually had air conditioning there...it was hot outside that day!

We had a big group for tailgating!

Me trying to teach Conner how to pedal. He needs to grow 1 more inch and he'll get it!

Labor Day On Smith Lake

We went to Smith Lake on Labor Day for some fun and sun. This was an especially good Labor Day because it had rained all weekend and we finally managed to get some sunshine. We spent most of the day riding around on the boat, and even though the water was a little cool we did manage to swim a little. If the boat is in motion, Conner has got to sit in Daddy's lap to help drive, he will not have it any other way. All in all we had a great time and we know that it is getting cooler and we only have a few more trips to the lake this year :(.

Oh No, Conner Broke His Tooth !!!

Well if you don't know by now, Conner fell in the shower a couple of weeks ago and he landed on his left front tooth. Unfortunately that tooth took the brunt of the fall and it broke more than half of the tooth off. As you can imagine it was a pretty traumatic experience for all of us. Conner handled it pretty well, he cried for just a little bit and then he was ready to play again. All this happened on a Sunday morning so needless to say it was near impossible to find a dentist. We finally found a guy off of Lorna Road in Hoover that said he would see us. Our only other option would have been the ER, but thankfully we found a dentist because the ER at Children's that morning had over 80 cases of the Swine Flu. All the dentist did was put a little bonding on the back of the tooth to make sure that the nerve was not at all exposed. We got in touch with Dr. Shane and we are going to see him at the end of September to decide how to fix our baby's grill :). I guess their is only one good thing in all of this, it was his baby tooth that got broke, so eventually he will get another full length tooth.
If you look closely you can see what's missing, half of his front tooth !!!

Jamie's 27th Birthday !!!

Jamie turned 27 on September 6 and we carried her to Stix for her birthday dinner. Conner loves to cook so that was also right up his alley since they cook right in front you. The staff at Stix sang Happy Birthday to Jamie and both her and Conner really got a kick out of it.

Happy Birthday Jamie !!!

"My Futures So Bright, I Got To Wear Shades"

Conner has had an obsession recently about wearing his sunglasses. Here are a few of Joe Cool's latest pics.

August 15 At Lake Martin

The Hughes' Family invited us down to their place on Lake Martin for the weekend. We had a great time and it was nice for Conner to get to spend some time playing and being around other kids. We had a great time and it was nice getting to hang out with our friends at the lake. We spent most of our time either on the water or in it !!! Thanks RJ and Jenn for having us and we hope to do it again soon!!!

Tubes: For The Second Time

Yes, Conner had to have a second set of tubes put in on August 13th. The tube in the right ear was almost all the way out and it was clogged. So the ENT suggested that he get another set of tubes. We had to be at the hospital at 6:00 a.m. but we were out of their by 8:00 a.m. Conner did very well and hopefully this will cut down on future ear infections. This little fellow has been through alot with his ears so far and we are praying that sooner rather than later his ear problems go away!!!
I know something is up, I just can't put my finger on it!
